Melissa Fitzgerald is an American actress. She played Carol Fitzpatrick, assistant to C. J. Cregg, on ''The West Wing''. ==Life and career== Fitzgerald graduated from Springside School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and earned a B.A. in Drama and Literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Her father is prominent Pennsylvania judge James Fitzgerald; and her mother, Carole, is involved in politics and volunteer work in Philadelphia. She is the founder of Voices in Harmony, a non-profit community theater in Los Angeles. In 1990, Melissa met actor Noah Emmerich, who acted in such movies as ''The Truman Show'', ''Beautiful Girls'', and ''Miracle''. Melissa herself appears an extra in ''The Truman Show'' and can be seen in the dance scene, where she is one of the other people dancing. They were married November 28, 1998. They are now divorced. On January 19, 2007, Nicholas D.
